THIS IS A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE DESIGNED FOR CHILD AND ADOLESCENT CLINICIANS WORKING IN SCHOOL SETTINGS
You’ll receive the full EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Basic Training along with substantial information on EMDR Treatment delivery in schools. You’ll also receive hours of consultation with expert child and adolescent clinicians.
TRAINING OVERVIEW
This is a training designed for clinicians who have not yet received formal training in EMDR therapy. Our EMDR Basic Training meets EMDRIA standards and offers 12 additional hours on the use of EMDR therapy with children and adolescents in school settings, for a total of 62 hours of training! If you work with clients across the lifespan, you will still receive the information on EMDR therapy for adults required by EMDRIA.
We’ll provide a safe learning and relational environment that will enhance your overall experience.
We will work within a "school delivery continuum" from capacity building and preparation-based treatment to full EMDR treatment including trauma processing.
Based on where you are on the continuum and the focus of your school practice, you will develop the skills to utilize partial or the complete eight phases of EMDR treatment and utilize procedural steps while guided by case conceptualization and moment-to-moment decision-making markers founded on the Adaptive Information Processing model (AIP) (Shapiro).
You will also learn how to address trauma-related symptoms using a neuroscience-informed, depathologizing, and deshaming approach that honors diversity and recognizes the uniqueness of each individual across the lifespan!
If you are already trained in EMDR therapy and would like to update your knowledge, you may take this training as a refresher at a reduced rate, participating only in the lecture portion.
Basic Training Content
Your full EMDR basic training consists of:
- 20 hours of theory
- 20 hours of practice
- 8 hours of specialized training on the use of EMDR therapy with children and adolescents in school settings
- 4 hours of pre-recorded training videos on neurosciences, attachment theory, and additional specialized training on using EMDR therapy with children and adolescents in school settings!
- 10 hours of consultation with expert child and adolescent clinicians
- A total of 62 hours and 48 CEs
Our trainings bring together adherence to Shapiro's Model with the latest findings in neurosciences, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, trauma and complex traumatization, the polyvagal theory and more!
Our EMDR Basic Training is offered in two comprehensive parts and emphasizes the thoughtful implementation of EMDR therapy’s procedural steps with clarity, integrity, and depth. School-based clinicians are guided in learning how to assess, prepare, and engage students in trauma reprocessing in developmentally responsive ways that fit the realities of school settings. Strong emphasis is placed on nervous system regulation, and attachment-informed care, equipping professionals to support students across diverse developmental capacities while maintaining safety and collaboration within the school environment.
PRERECORDED TRAINING
TRAINING ORGANIZATION
Mornings will be dedicated to learning the EMDR methodology and procedural steps through lectures, videos, vignettes, visual aids and group discussions where moment- to-moment decision-making markers are explored. This will give you a very tangible experience!
Afternoons are dedicated to giving you the opportunity to practice and experience the power of EMDR therapy as a clinician, client and observer while supported by our faculty of expert companions.
The fourth day is completely dedicated to learning how to deliver EMDR treatment to children and adolescents in school settings.
AFTER THE TRAINING, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:
-
- Develop strong case conceptualization skills grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model.
- Apply EMDR therapy to a wide range of student presentations, including trauma-related symptoms, behavioral challenges, anxiety, grief, somatic concerns, and addictions.
- Integrate principles from attachment theory, dissociation, and polyvagal theory to support regulation and relational safety in school-based practice.
- Learn and apply the eight phases of EMDR therapy with adults, children, and adolescents, with clear guidance for implementation within school settings.
- Strengthen clinical decision-making skills using clear markers throughout EMDR treatment, delivered through practices sensitive to race, culture, gender, and systemic context.
- Deliver developmentally responsive EMDR treatment to children and adolescents using child-friendly protocols, strategies, and procedural adaptations appropriate for school environments.
Learn how to thoughtfully implement EMDR therapy within the unique structures and rhythms of school environments.
OUR MANUAL
You will have access to an EMDR manual designed to support your learning experience, full of color, illustrations, graphics, a case board and diversity sections throughout the manual.
EMDR Therapy will support your clients in developing a new relationship with their unique stories and with themselves.
EMDR Therapy embraces the wisdom of the moment, where past, present, and future coexist in a single embodied mind.
