Your Journey to become an EMDR Parent-Child & Attachment Specialist Begins Here

Training Overview

RECORDED VIDEOS
As soon as you register, you will have access to 9 hours of recorded videos exploring attachment theory, regulation and Polyvagal theories, neurosequential views of development, and the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI). This theoretical review will give you a deep understanding of how the human mind develops and grows in connection to others.

Play Video

We will explore child and adult attachment categories while incorporating their accompanying patterns of autonomic activation.

In addition, you will learn about tools that can help you assess and explore the quality of the parent-child attachment bond and the states of mind concerning parents’ own attachment experiences that impact the relationship and the form of attachment they form with their children. Phase one of EMDR treatment will also be explored and expanded, enriching the process of history gathering.

Intensive Training

Once you have watched and studied the 9-hour videos, you will be ready to attend the 36-hour intensive training, which is rich, comprehensive, and full of creative and powerful interventions founded on solid theoretical principles. We usually deliver the in-person training in five days and the Online in two three-day segments.

You will be trained in “The Systemic, EMDR- Attachment-Based Program to Heal Intergenerational Trauma & Repair the Parent-Child Attachment Bond,” developed by Ana Gomez. You will learn to work with parents (as the individual parent’s therapist) and children (and the parent as collateral) utilizing creative pathways to deliver EMDR therapy to children with attachment wounds and their caregivers. This is a multimodal, systemic, and integrative approach to the use of EMDR therapy with children and their parents that encompass attachment theory, polyvagal theory, regulation theory, neurosequential and developmental methodologies,  as well as adjunct approaches such as expressive arts, play therapy, parts work, polyvagal-based interventions, and attachment-informed play.

You will learn a model developed by Ana Gomez to work with parents and children that includes five levels of parental involvement within the eight phases of EMDR treatment. You will learn how to work with parents with dismissing, preoccupied and unresolved tendencies throughout the eight phases of treatment. In addition, you will learn how to help parents develop attunement and resonance so the capacity to “hold the child’s mind in mind” (Fonagy) can be promoted. This intensive program provides several unique and creative protocols and therapeutic activities that enhance the eight phases of treatment while supporting you in developing case conceptualization skills and capacities.

Objectives

AT THE END OF THE TRAINING YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

Use the "Parenting Wheel" developed by Ana Gomez to teach and practice with parents' co-regulation, mirroring, and more.

Utilize resources for parents and use strategies and protocols such as P-RDI and how to use "parts work" with caregivers.

Apply case conceptualization strategies and Preparation tools that include protocols to enhance the parent's capacity for differentiation and boundary awareness as well as linkage and connection will be addressed.

Use an EMDR protocol using "microanalysis" and -sequencing" to explore and re-configure the parent's internal relational representations.

Identify how to develop the treatment plan for the parent and the child will be demonstrated. In addition, the use of Theraplay strategies and the installation of dyadic-regulated states with the child and the parent will be demonstrated. Moreover, how to resource the "parent's younger self" and "the child's little self" will be covered.

Utilize a wide range of interventions and interweaves. You will be able to observe live demonstrations and practice while accompanied by AGATE Institute trainers and facilitators.

Utilize interweaves that will assist parents in assimilating and integrating thwarted attachment experiences that currently inhibit their ability to respond contingently and synchronically to the child's needs. The EMDR Interweave Systems Model will be reviewed, and the use of powerful interweaves that assist parents and children during processing sessions.

Use dyadic processing and many dyadic interweaves.

Once you complete the EMDR Parent-Child & Attachment Specialist Intensive Program, you will be on our website as a referral source.
