9th Master Class with Ana Gomez: The World of Stories and Symbols: The EMDR-Sandtray Protocol

This event has passed and is now included in the bundle class of Ana Gomez Master Series Classes 6-10.

The bihemispheric structure of the brain imposes on clinicians the challenge of therapeutically relating and strategically embracing the full biology of the human mind. For clients with developmental injuries, trauma left them in a constant state of physiological activation while unable to verbally tell their life accounts. Sandtray techniques provide distance and an entrance into the unspoken world that lays beneath the aware and conscious mind. This presentation will introduce how to incorporate Sandtray techniques into EMDR therapy. In addition, it will address how utilizing Sandtray strategies within an EMDR framework can be a powerful portal into adaptive as well as traumatogenic material.

Objectives:

Clinicians attending this training will be able to:

1. Identify how to utilize Sandtray strategies during the initial phases of EMDR therapy
2. Differentiate EMDR-Sandtray compared to other sand and Sandtray based approaches
3. Identify and utilize the three levels of EMDR processing in the tray
4. Utilize interweaves when information processing is blocked in the tray
